Claire's first Ballet Lesson

Since her arrival, Claire has had several visitors. "Aunt" Shannon and "Uncle" Marlin visited for dinner and taught Claire how to use her Boppy.

The next day, "Aunt" Jessica visited on her way to dance. She assures us that Claire has good toes to be a pointe ballerina.

A Bath and a Visit to the Doctor

Today we took Claire to the doctor for a quick check-up and learned that everything was fine. I think we also heard the doctor say Claire is 'advanced for her age.'
In this picture, David is giving Claire her first bath so that she is clean for the check-up. (Not pictured is Grandma Karen (not sure what she wants to be called!!!) off to the side providing guidance.)
Here you see Claire being snuggled and dried after her bath.
Here is Claire all dressed-up for the doctor.... as any experienced parent knows, the more clothes a baby wears to the doctor, the more clothes that have to come off for the examination. Here is David looking disapprovingly at Haley who decided the doctor's office was a nice place for a photo-op.
Lastly, Claire is asleep and all tuckered out from a bath and a trip to the doctor.

Day #3, Going Home

Here are the two grandmothers getting Claire dressed for the trip home.
Here is Claire almost dressed for the ride home.
Here is another picture of Claire before the drive home.
Here is Claire secured in the car. (Please note that Haley is obviously feeling well since she is taking pictures of Claire.)
Here is Daddy carrying Claire into the house and being greeted by Zuko.

Day #2

Here is Claire in the hands of Grandpa Bill. It may not look like it here, but Daddy is clearly wrapped around Claire's finger. The four proud grandparents admiring their beautiful granddaughter.

Her Arrival

Claire was born on April 24th, and this picture was taken a few hours after her arrival.

Claire Has Arrived

At 10:43 am, on April 24th, Claire Estelle Sigler made her entrance into the world. She is a beautiful healthy girl and weighed 8 lb. 2 oz. and measured 21 inches long. Haley was marvelous during the whole event and is taking a much deserved nap as I type this e-mail.

All four grandparents were present at the hospital and are also doing fine!

The entire hospital staff was wonderful and we enjoyed a special visit from our Birthing Class teacher, and close friend, Shannon Ikenberry, who brought me a nice cup of coffee at 7am.

We went to the hospital at midnight and Claire was born almost 11 hours later.

You can bet that pictures will follow!!!

BIRTHday Cupcakes for the baby girl!

So, still no baby. In a last-ditch effort to entice her to arrive, we've been baking cupcakes. Could this be nesting? For those of you not familiar with the signs of impending labor, apparently a desire to clean and bake qualifies. Not sure if making cupcakes from a box and watching my mother clean my house counts.

Who's Counting?

Haley's 5 days overdue, but who's counting? Last night was a restless night, so we got up early at 6:15am and decided to check the PA primary results and littlefeetlittlehands.blogspot.com. Today happens to be Claire's aunt's birthday (Happy Birthday Melissa!!!) and also the day that Claire's uncle returns from London.

Thanks for all the calls and e-mails checking on Haley. We appreciate everything!

Game Plan

Good Morning.
We had an appointment this morning and things are just fine.... we're going to get a non-stress test at the hospital on Friday and then discuss the results of the test Friday afternoon with our doctor before making any firm decisions.

Haley continues to feel really good. Phew!

A Little Late

It's 4 o'clock on April 21st, and still nothing. While we're a little frustrated, we keep telling ourselves that Claire just isn't ready to appear.

We've got another doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, so we'll see what happens!

All in all, Haley is feeling pretty good.

"Loss of sense of humor"

Even though Haley's due date was April 18th, signs are indicating that Claire is close to arriving...

One of Haley's books lists indications that the baby is about to arrive... one sign is that the expecting mother will experience a "loss of sense of humor."

I can confirm that we've reached this stage.

House Transformation

Here are few pictures of the nursery.

Thanks to everyone who helped get the room ready for Claire.

Today is the "Do" Date

Today is April 18th and our official due date. From the looks of things at 11am, Claire is going to be fashionably late. I have done some yard work to pass the time and Haley is chatting on the phone and making weekend plans as if she isn't expecting a baby.

Things Haley is planning to DO this weekend: attend the W&L baseball games, then attend Jessica's dance performance, and then go to dinner with her parents. Who knows, maybe Haley will go to Lowe's and buy some flowers and plant them too!

Whenever you're ready...

We're all packed and ready to go.

Well, Claire, you can arrive anytime you'd like. The next few days are sunny and in the high 70's, perfect weather for you to make your entrance.

Tuesdays with Jessica

(Picture from 7/17/04)

Today Haley and Jessica enjoyed their weekly lunch in Lexington.

Will Jessica still want to have lunch each Tuesday when Haley is toting around a carrier with a (crying) little girl???

I guess we'll find out in the coming weeks.

Waiting Game

Well, Haley's due date is officially April 18th, but we think we're ready now. Whenever our daughter would like to enter the world, she's welcome.

Today, to pass the time, we took a late afternoon drive to Staunton and walked around the sad little mall (full of going-out-of-business jewelry stores) and had dinner at Chili's. Every meal could be our last meal as a couple sans kids!
